Ltd, 9030 McKenney Ave, St. Albert, T8N 2T7 Experience Level: If you are 14+ and have taken one or more beginner belly dance class or other belly dance classes. I will break down and review moves, but you'll get the most out of this class if you felt you caught on to moves well when you took Beginner Belly Basics. Course Description: During this 8-week course, you will learn 6 different mini-choreographies. Jan. 19 & 26 Veil Raqs Sharqi Feb. 2 Drum Solo Feb. 9 & 23 Beledi March 2 Saidi (canes provided by Belly Dance Beats) March 9 Mahraganat March 16 Belly dance moves with a song voted on by the students. This could be a modern rock song, a country song, etc. You do NOT have to memorize a choreography, because every week I will guide you, remind you, encourage you and you just follow me! However, learning moves in a choreography allows you to see and feel how one move flows into the next, hence why I've called this class, "Belly Flow". I will teach you key moves of the different styles of belly dance, as well as the history or meaning behind each dance. This will give you a well-rounded understanding of the art of belly dance. All props, if required for a choreography, such as the veils, fan veils or canes will be provided by Belly Dance Beats for you to use during that classes choreography. What to wear: Wear comfortable exercise clothes. You do not need to show your belly. Traditionally belly dance is done barefoot but you can wear socks, a ballet slipper or soft jazz shoes if you prefer. There is no memorization of choreography and no dance recital. Just come have fun learning this ancient art form and getting a great low-impact exercise. Instructor: Laura Beauchamp
