Intermediate Saadi Belly Dance Show Choreography 10-weeks Saidi belly dance is a high-energy, earthy folkloric dance from Upper Egypt (the Sa'id region) traditionally performed with a cane (assaya). Saidi is grounded, rhythmic, and characterized by heavy, bouncy footwork that mimics horse movements. Class Dates: Mondays Sept. 14, 21, 28, Oct. 5 , 19, 26 (no class Oct. 12) Nov. 2, 9, 16, 23 *Pencil in 7:30pm - 8:30 pm on Wed. Nov. 25 as a "just in case Laura gets sick" Belly Dance Show: Sunday March 29, 2026 In addition to the cost of the class, students will need to purchase a ticket ($15) to attend & perform in the show, as well as an appropriate belly dance costume to perform in. Costume prices range a lot, but you can expect to spend $80 - $200. Class Time: 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm Location: Dynamyx Gymnastics Club 110 – 175 Carleton Drive St. Albert, Alberta T8N 7X9 Experience level: If you have taken 3 or more beginner classes (3) or other intermediate belly dance classes, this intermediate show choreography class is for you. All welcome. Ages 15+ What to wear to class: Wear comfortable exercise clothes. You do not need to show your belly. Traditionally belly dance is done barefoot but you can wear socks, a ballet slipper or soft jazz shoes if you prefer. What to wear to the show: Matching Saidi Galabeya dresses with matching headband/ head scarf, hip scarf and gold assaya (no hook). Laura will explain to you at the first class how to make your own assaya. The show consists of other belly dancers, beginner, intermediate, semi-professional, instructors and their families and friends watching. It's an exhilarating experience to dance on stage. Payment: I am a small business so if possible I greatly appreciate if you can pay via etransfer or cash. I completely understand that paying for the class entirely upfront can be financially too much.
