Beginner/Intermediate Mini-Choreo Class 8-weeks *This course is women only, however Monday evening classes all are welcome. No experience required. This class has been designed to accommodate both beginners and intermediate students. If you have NEVER taken a belly dance class, taken one or several, this class is diverse to suit many different levels. Date: Sundays Sept. 27, Oct. 4, 18, 25 (no class Sun. Oct. 11 for ThanksGiving) Nov. 1, 8, 15, 22 Class Time: 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm Location: DanceCo. Ltd, 9030 McKenney Ave, St. Albert, T8N 2T7 in Studio 6/7 Course Description: You will learn a Drum Solo and a Beledi choreography over this 8-week course. What is a Drum Solo? It features rapid-fire hip hits, sharp shimmies, and precise muscle isolations that match every accent, roll, and sudden stop of the percussion. What is a Beledi? It is grounded, relaxed, deeply emotional and often focused on fluid, smooth movements. You do NOT have to memorize any of the mini-choreographies, because every week I will guide and remind you. Learning moves in a choreography allows you to see and feel how one move flows into the next. What to wear: Wear comfortable exercise clothes. You do not need to show your belly. Traditionally belly dance is done barefoot but you can wear socks, a ballet slipper or soft jazz shoes if you prefer. Hip Scarves: They are fun, colourful, shimmery and jingle. They also help you visually see and hear your movements. They are encouraged, but not mandatory. Various types of hip scarves are available via my online store, or you can buy one at your first class. Arrive 15-minutes early to browse hip scarves before the first class. Pricing ranges from $10 and up. If you really like a hip scarf buy it PRIOR to the first class because I only have a few of each kind and som Recital: There is no dance recital. Just come have fun learning this ancient art form and getting a great low-impact exercise. WhatsApp: This app is the easiest way for me to share a video of the choreography with you so you can practice during the week. Download the app prior to the class with the phone number you put on your registration. Payment: I am a small business so if possible I greatly appreciate if you can pay via etransfer or cash. I completely understand that paying for the class entirely upfront can be financially too much. I am very happy to setup a payment schedule with you if you need, like three payments of $68.25 Instructor: Laura Beauchamp
